Families in Lafayette are in for a treat at Moncus Park with a new series of art in the park bringing color and creativity to the heart of the community.

Ahead of the event, organizers shared their excitement about welcoming both children and adults for a free evening full of outdoor art activities.

This month’s theme, “Nature Bugs,” encourages budding artists to use leaves, sticks, and other natural materials found right in the park.

According to residents, these children art events have quickly become a highlight with their playful approach, making art feel accessible and fun for all abilities.

Local parents say these gatherings encourage confidence and imagination—two things every child needs.

Unlike traditional art classes, the open-air setting lets participants create alongside a lively backdrop of trees and laughter, sparking inspiration.

With a growing interest in public art around Lafayette, several new installations have appeared nearby, adding to the park’s evolving appeal.

Attendees can simply show up with a sense of curiosity—no art experience required.

It's great seeing creativity encouraged outside of a classroom setting. Fresh air makes everything better honestly

Is parking still a nightmare over there on weekends? that's usually what stops us from going

My daughter made a little bug collage last year at something similar and still has it on her wall. These things stick with kids

Outdoor art sounds great until it's 95 degrees and humid. Hoping for a cooler evening

I love that you don't need any experience. that's what keeps people from trying art in the first place
