Construction is underway on a new D.R. Horton Louisiana West office in Lafayette, adding another commercial project to the city's west side.

The building is going up at 208 Oak Grove Lane, near Eraste Landry Road and Foreman Drive, on a site measuring nearly four acres.

The property sits next to the homebuilder's existing Lafayette office, raising questions about how the new facility will change its local operations.

D.R. Horton is a major national homebuilder with residential developments across Acadiana.

The project offers a visible sign of the company's continued presence in the Lafayette housing market.

Lemoine Builders, a Louisiana construction company with commercial-building experience, is handling construction.

That distinction matters because this is an office project rather than one of the residential neighborhoods for which D.R. Horton is best known.

Exactly what will be inside the finished building has not been confirmed.

The original project report suggests the new space may replace the neighboring office and could accommodate homebuyer services, but those possibilities remain unverified.

Potential uses mentioned include sales, financing and a showroom where customers could explore housing options.

For now, residents passing the intersection can see work progressing at the site.

The project report estimates that construction could finish around January 2027, although no official completion date has been announced.

The important distinction is that the estimated timeline is not a confirmed opening date.

A new regional office could make it easier for the company to bring its customer-facing services together in one place, depending on the final design.

For Lafayette residents tracking new business construction, this is another development worth watching as work continues.

More information about the building's intended uses and opening schedule may emerge closer to completion.

The original report is available from Developing Lafayette, and company information can be found through D.R. Horton's official website.
