The La Louisiane Podcast returns Monday, Oct. 5, with a familiar Acadiana voice behind the microphone. Marcelle Fontenot, a longtime regional broadcast journalist and the University of Louisiana at Lafayette’s chief communications officer, will host the relaunched series. Her first guest is Andy Benoit, UL Lafayette’s vice president for Student Success, for a conversation centered on students and the people shaping campus life.

Fontenot joined UL Lafayette in April after more than two decades in Acadiana broadcast journalism. An Opelousas native, she now oversees communications, marketing, media relations, digital engagement and storytelling for the university. For local listeners who know her from television, the return to a microphone gives a familiar storyteller a new format.

The relaunched show is part of La Louisiane, the university storytelling platform that began as a magazine in 1989 and now reaches audiences through print, digital, podcast, email, radio and social media. Multimedia storyteller Kade Parker produces the podcast in coordination with KRVS 88.7 FM, UL Lafayette’s public radio affiliate.

The local opportunity is bigger than another campus update. Conversations with students, faculty, alumni and university leaders can give Lafayette and Acadiana listeners a closer look at the ideas, decisions and people behind work that eventually reaches the broader community.

According to UL Lafayette’s announcement of the relaunch, episodes will air on KRVS and will also be available through video and university social channels. That gives listeners several ways to follow the series as Fontenot settles into the host’s chair.

For graduates, current students and Lafayette neighbors, the La Louisiane Podcast offers another way to hear the stories connecting the university with Acadiana. The first new episode arrives Oct. 5, with future conversations expected to spotlight the people, ideas and experiences that help tell UL Lafayette’s story.
