Lafayette Building Permits: $51M School Leads Latest Projects |
Paul Breaux, restaurant work and new housing headline the September 23–29 roundup |

Lafayette Parish’s latest building-permit roundup offers a look at what could be taking shape next, from a major school investment to new places to eat and live.
The list covers permits issued September 23–29 for Lafayette, Youngsville, Broussard and unincorporated areas of the parish.
The standout is a $51 million permit for Paul Breaux Elementary School at 2416 Louisiana Avenue, with RHH Architects listed as applicant and J.B. Mouton as contractor.
For families watching school construction, that is the biggest-dollar item in this weekly snapshot.
Restaurant development also makes an appearance: Manisup, listed at 101 Gerald Drive, has a $1.5 million site-and-shell permit and a separate $827,304 interior buildout permit.
Together, those entries represent roughly $2.33 million in permitted work, though the list does not provide an opening date or menu details.
On the housing side, The Oaks Townhome Development has a $2.2 million permit covering buildings 3–10 at 95 Settlers Trace.
Youngsville’s residential entries include homes on Gideon Road, Cypress Reserve Lane and Bayfield Drive, plus several units at 805 Broyles Street.
A $600,000 permit on Fern Grove is another notable Youngsville entry.
Smaller projects round out the picture, including a $75,000 church-office buildout at Holy Cross Catholic Church on Robley Drive and a $2,500 new entryway for The Bulldog on General Mouton Avenue.
Permit values are not property sale prices, and a permit listing alone does not establish when construction will finish or a business will welcome customers.
Nor does one week’s list prove that development is accelerating across every city it covers.
Still, it gives residents a useful watchlist: a substantial school project, restaurant construction and additional housing, all appearing in the same reporting period.
