Lafayette Fire Chief Brandon Finfrock Answers Colorado’s Call |
Specialized incident-management expertise carries a Lafayette leader into a major flood-recovery mission |

Lafayette Fire District Chief Brandon Finfrock is carrying local expertise more than 1,000 miles from home to help communities recovering from severe flooding in Colorado.
Finfrock deployed to Archuleta County with a Louisiana Incident Management Team supporting response, stabilization and recovery operations around Pagosa Springs.
The mission, coordinated through the Emergency Management Assistance Compact, is expected to last about 14 days.
Finfrock serves as a qualified Logistics Section Chief, a specialized role responsible for keeping complex emergency operations supplied and connected.
That means coordinating personnel, equipment, transportation, facilities, communications and the steady flow of supplies responders need in the field.
It is demanding work that often happens away from the spotlight, but an emergency response cannot succeed without it.
The official deployment announcement says Finfrock is serving alongside emergency-management and fire personnel from across Louisiana.
His selection also reflects Lafayette’s renewed investment in advanced training and preparedness.
The Lafayette Fire Department has expanded its focus on incident management, urban search and rescue and other specialized capabilities designed to strengthen the city’s response to increasingly complex emergencies.
Finfrock’s deployment will help Colorado communities now, while the experience he gains through a large multi-agency operation will return home with him.
That combination of service, skill and preparation makes Brandon Finfrock this week’s Lafayette Loop Hometown Hero. |

Logistics does not get much attention, but nothing moves without the right people and supplies in place.
Proud to see Lafayette training put to work where people really need help.
