Lafayette Parish Voting Machines Sealed Ahead of November Election |
Election workers completed a key security step as early voting begins for the November 3 election. |

Lafayette Parish election officials have completed a visible part of the preparation for the November 3 election.
Voting machines were sealed October 14 at the Lafayette Parish Registrar of Voters office ahead of the start of early voting.
Sealing the machines is a standard security measure designed to protect the equipment after it has been prepared and tested for use.
The process also gives election officials a documented checkpoint before machines are deployed for voters.
Early voting runs October 20 through October 27, with the exception of Sunday, October 25.
Voting hours during that period are 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.
On Election Day, November 3, polls are scheduled to be open from 6 a.m. until 8 p.m.
Voters should confirm their registration status, sample ballot and correct voting location before heading out, since Election Day precincts and early-voting sites are not always the same.
Louisiana’s voter resources can also help residents review identification requirements and other practical details before they arrive.
Preparing in advance is especially helpful for ballots that include multiple local or statewide decisions.
Residents who plan to vote early may want to allow extra time during the busiest periods, particularly near lunch, after work and on the final day.
Those voting on November 3 should remember that anyone in line when polls close at 8 p.m. is generally allowed to cast a ballot.
The sealed machines are only one part of a larger process that includes testing, chain-of-custody procedures, poll-worker preparation and voter verification.
For Lafayette Parish voters, the most important next step is simple: check the ballot, make a plan and choose the voting day that works best.

I always appreciate seeing the preparation and security steps explained clearly.
Thanks for putting the early voting dates and hours in one place.
A good reminder to check the sample ballot and voting location before heading out.
