Comic convention in Lafayette, Louisiana |
2027 will miss the excitement of Comic Convention Lafayette |

The comic convention that brought animated energy to Lafayette, Louisiana each year will not return in 2027, leaving fans surprised and a bit heartbroken.
For many locals, finding out about the cancellation brought a real sense of loss.
The Louisiana Comic Convention had become a beloved staple in the region’s calendar, filling the Cajundome Convention Center with color, creativity, and community year after year.
Organizers recently announced their decision to step away, thanking the fans who helped turn their vision into reality.
The sense of community fostered by the event won’t be easily replaced.
Families, artists, and cosplayers filled the halls every spring, forming connections that stretched far beyond comic books and costumes.
Many in Lafayette felt the annual gathering reflected not just pop culture, but the unique spirit of the city itself.
This abrupt change also arrives as downtown Lafayette experiences renewed energy, with new coffee shops, art studios, and even a few boutique game stores popping up in recent months.
Some vendors are already wondering if smaller pop-up events might capture even a fraction of the comic convention’s charm.
The momentum from the event inspired young creators and brought nationally known guests face-to-face with local fans.
The void left behind marks more than a missing weekend; it’s a pause in the city’s growing pop culture scene.
While the comic convention Lafayette loved won’t return next year, the passion it sparked lives on.
Locals are already talking about alternatives, hoping to see Louisiana’s fandom community find new ways to gather, celebrate, and support one another in the years ahead. |

nationally known guests coming to lafayette was honestly so cool, that part especially will be hard to replace
the timing is weird with all the new stuff opening downtown, felt like the scene was finally growing
not surprised honestly, running a convention is expensive and exhausting
my daughter wore her first cosplay there two years ago, she is gonna be devastated
hope one of the local vendors steps up and organizes something smaller, even a one day pop up would help
the cajundome always felt so alive during that weekend, gonna miss it bad
that really sucks, we went every year as a family
