Planet Fitness and Crunch Fitness in Lafayette, Louisiana |
New Planet Fitness Lafayette coming soon |

Planet Fitness is gearing up to open a brand-new, and perfect, location in Lafayette, Louisiana.
This upcoming gym will find its home in the familiar building that once housed Office Depot at 1879 W. Pinhook Road.
Construction crews have already begun a total interior gutting, signaling a major transformation for the site.
It’s hard not to be struck by the shift—just a few years ago, office supply stores like Office Depot thrived in busy commercial districts, especially so close to the Oil Center and its bustling offices.
But as online shopping grows, brick-and-mortar staples are steadily giving way to new types of community spaces like fitness centers.
And if there's one thing you can't purchase on the internet, it's the motivation and environment needed for a healthy lifestyle.
Lafayette's new Planet Fitness promises the brand's familiar model—affordability, a welcoming vibe, and 24/7 convenience, all wrapped in those signature purple and yellow hues.
For locals, this brings fresh fitness opportunities right in the heart of the city.
Meanwhile, Crunch Fitness is also making waves, with its own project underway at the former Dirt Cheap location along Ambassador Caffery Parkway.
Crunch Fitness appeals to those who want big-box amenities but with its own energetic, modern flair.
The addition of both Crunch and Planet Fitness signals a competitive new chapter in Lafayette’s fitness options, which already include Club4, smaller studios, and boutique gyms.
Officials haven’t yet confirmed an opening date for the Planet Fitness Lafayette location, but with demolition in full swing, many expect a grand opening to coincide with fitness resolutions in the coming year.
For local residents, these new facilities mean more ways to get healthy, meet neighbors, and boost community wellness—all without leaving Lafayette. |

The Ambassador Caffery Crunch location is probably going to be super convenient for people on that side of town. Curious which one opens first.
Two new gyms opening at the same time is actually great for prices. Club4 might have to step it up a little.
We already have Club4 and a bunch of other gyms around here. Do we really need two more big chain gyms opening at the same time lol
I used to go to that Office Depot all the time back when I worked in the Oil Center. Wild to see it becoming a Planet Fitness now. Time flies.
Hope the parking situation is better than it looks. Pinhook is already a nightmare during lunch hour.
Used to stop by that Office Depot all the time for work stuff back in the day. Crazy how fast things change but honestly a gym there makes way more sense now.
