Police Chase in Lafayette Ends Near Airport With Four Arrests |
Officers pursued a sedan with stolen plates along U.S. 90 and recovered a stolen gun |

A police pursuit through Lafayette ended near Lafayette Regional Airport with four people in custody, authorities said.
The incident began when officers spotted a white sedan displaying license plates that had been reported stolen.
Police attempted to stop the vehicle, but the driver accelerated instead of pulling over, leading officers on a chase through the city.
According to police, the pursuit traveled along U.S. 90 before the sedan turned onto Surrey Street in the direction of the airport.
At one point, as many as 10 police units were involved in the response, authorities said.
The pursuit ended shortly afterward, and officers reportedly detained all four occupants of the sedan.
Investigators also recovered a stolen firearm from inside the vehicle, police confirmed.
The discovery adds another element to the investigation, although authorities have not publicly detailed who possessed the weapon or how it came to be in the car.
The specific criminal charges against the four people had not been confirmed in the initial report.
Police have not provided the identities of those taken into custody in the information available so far.
The report also did not establish whether anyone was injured or whether other vehicles were damaged during the pursuit.
The route brought the incident into a busy transportation corridor connecting Lafayette traffic with the airport area.
For residents and drivers, the incident highlights how quickly an attempted traffic stop can escalate into a broader police response.
Several key questions remain unanswered, including the circumstances surrounding the stolen plates, the firearm and any potential charges.
Additional details may emerge as police complete their investigation and release more information.
The reported arrests do not establish guilt, and any defendants would be presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court. |

Would be nice to know what charges they actually face. Stolen plates AND a stolen firearm and we still have no answers yet.
10 units for one car is wild. Glad they got them off the road though, especially with a stolen gun in the vehicle.
Surrey Street near the airport is already a mess during peak hours. A chase through there must have been terrifying for people just trying to get home.
