The Power of a Small Pause |
Finding Fall in South Louisiana |

Fall in Louisiana does not always arrive with crisp air and colorful leaves. Sometimes, it shows up in smaller ways: a slightly cooler morning, a porch that feels comfortable again, the return of football weekends, or the first evening when the humidity finally gives us a break.
That makes this season a good reminder to notice the little changes. In a place where summer can seem to stretch on forever, fall often asks us to slow down and pay attention. Maybe it is the smell of something simmering on the stove, the sound of a screen door closing behind you, or the chance to sit outside for a few extra minutes without immediately reaching for the air conditioning. Try using one of those moments as a reset.
Step outside with your coffee. Take a slow walk after dinner. Sit on the porch and listen to the evening sounds. For one minute, resist the urge to check your phone or plan what comes next. Instead, notice where you are.
Ask yourself what you want to carry into the rest of the year, and what you may be ready to leave behind.
Louisiana fall may not always be dramatic, but that is part of its charm. The shift is gentle.
And sometimes, a gentle shift is exactly what we need: a little cooler air, a little more breathing room, and a reminder to enjoy the season we are in. |
