Tuesday evening called for good weather and even better food, so we headed to Spoonbill Watering Hole & Restaurant downtown.

Housed in a reimagined vintage Conoco station on Jefferson Street, the spot has a laid-back charm that's hard to beat, especially when the temperature cooperates. With near-perfect conditions, we grabbed a table on the patio, widely considered one of the best outdoor seating areas downtown, and settled in.

The food delivered on every level, but what really made the night was our server, Danni G. She was warm, attentive, and clearly loves what she does, turning a great meal into a genuinely memorable evening.

If you're looking for great food, good service, and one of Lafayette's best patios, Spoonbill is worth the visit.

Tuesday nights downtown have really picked up lately. Spoonbill is a big part of why people are actually coming back out.

We go pretty regularly and the quality has stayed consistent which is honestly hard to pull off. Some places get popular and then start slipping.

kim_lafThat consistency thing is real. I've seen so many places around here start strong and then fall off after the hype dies down. Glad Spoonbill isn't doing that.

Good servers really do make or break a night out. Sounds like Danni is doing it right.

Paul D.Seriously, a bad server can ruin even great food. The opposite is true too — a good one like Danni makes you want to come back just because of the experience.

Have been meaning to try this place forever. Does anyone know if they take reservations or is it walk-in only?

Tricia MoutonLast time I went it was walk-in, but I'd call ahead on weekends just to be safe. Weeknights like Tuesday are usually pretty manageable though.

Honestly the food is solid but I think the patio alone is reason enough to go. There aren't many spots like that left downtown.

james_lafayetteCompletely agree. Downtown Lafayette has lost a few good patio spots over the years. Nice to have one that's still holding it down.

I always forget this place used to be a Conoco station until I look at the building. They did such a good job keeping that old character.

Love Spoonbill but parking on that stretch of Jefferson can be a pain on weeknights. Worth it though, just go in knowing you might have to walk a bit.

Greg FontenotPro tip — the parking lot a block or so down is usually less hectic. Agree it's worth the walk, especially on a nice evening.

That patio on Jefferson is unbeatable on a nice evening. One of those spots where you lose track of time and suddenly it's 10pm.

scott_downtownHa, yes! We did exactly that last spring. Ordered one more round of drinks and next thing I know my husband is checking his watch at 10:30. Zero regrets though.

Danni is the best! She waited on us last month and remembered my husband's allergy without him even having to bring it up twice. That kind of service is rare.

Marie T.That's impressive. Remembering a food allergy without being reminded is huge. Says a lot about how much she actually pays attention to her tables.
