Downtown Lafayette is getting a new locally owned juice and smoothie shop designed to bring fresh drinks, natural bowls and a relaxed neighborhood atmosphere to Jefferson Street.

YUMZ is planned for 302 Jefferson Street in a roughly 950-square-foot space that will be renovated before opening.

The concept comes from Adam LaFleur, who is also known professionally as Adam Wise and oddiiisee.

LaFleur is originally from Eunice, attended the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and has spent years working in Lafayette’s music and cultural community.

He is a musician and artist who also works as a music engineer at Dream Studios.

The planned menu centers on fresh juices, smoothies and natural bowls.

YUMZ also expects to include a small mini-mart area with homemade products, giving customers more than a quick drink stop.

The goal is to create a casual setting where people can grab something fresh, spend time downtown and learn more about the food they consume.

That combination of convenience and community could help YUMZ stand apart in Lafayette’s growing health-conscious food scene.

The reported plans for YUMZ also include a monthly fresh market featuring local produce after the shop opens.

That market could give farmers and small producers another downtown touchpoint while encouraging more foot traffic on Jefferson Street.

The location places YUMZ in the heart of Lafayette’s downtown dining, arts and entertainment district.

The same storefront had previously been announced as the future home of Bahn Mi House, but those plans did not move forward.

YUMZ now gives the compact space a new direction built around fruit-forward drinks, bowls and locally made goods.

The current target is a soft opening around January 1, 2027.

Because restaurant construction and permitting timelines can change, customers should treat that date as tentative and watch the business’s Instagram account for updates.

LaFleur has also discussed expanding YUMZ to additional regional locations after the Lafayette shop is established.

For now, the downtown opening is the priority and another sign that Jefferson Street continues attracting locally rooted food concepts.

A monthly produce market downtown would be a great addition. Hope they can keep it going year-round.
