Zeus Mediterranean Kitchen Returning to West Pinhook Road |
The former Pizza Hut will be renovated with a refreshed dining room, updated kitchen and planned drive-thru |

Zeus Mediterranean Kitchen is preparing to return to West Pinhook Road in a familiar Lafayette restaurant building with several practical upgrades planned.
The new location is taking shape at 1821 West Pinhook Road, inside the former Pizza Hut property near Kaliste Saloom Road.
The move keeps Zeus on the same Lafayette corridor where the local Mediterranean brand began more than two decades ago.
According to the reported development plans, founder Nidal Balbeisi opened the original Zeus in August 2002 near West Pinhook Road and South Audubon Boulevard.
From that first location, the restaurant grew into a recognizable Acadiana name known for wraps, shawarma, hummus, salads and other Greek and Lebanese favorites.
The original Pinhook restaurant closed in November 2025 after redevelopment plans emerged for the neighboring Travelodge property.
Its closure left longtime customers wondering whether Zeus would ever return to the street where the brand started.
The answer is now taking shape a short distance away.
Plans for the former Pizza Hut include interior improvements, kitchen renovations, exterior paint and a new drive-thru window.
The planned drive-thru would give customers a convenience the original Pinhook location did not offer.
The property also provides a different parking setup, which may be welcome news to customers who remember crowded lunch periods at the original restaurant.
The new address places Zeus closer to the busy Pinhook and Kaliste Saloom intersection.
The restaurant will share the shopping center with School Time Uniforms, Today’s Big Deals and a planned Planet Fitness in the former Office Depot space behind it.
That mix of retail, fitness and dining could create steady traffic throughout the day.
The move also puts Zeus across West Pinhook from Zorba’s, another longtime Lafayette Mediterranean restaurant.
The current anticipated opening date is January 1, 2027.
As with any active renovation, that date should be considered tentative until the restaurant announces a firm opening schedule.
Zeus customers can continue checking the company’s official location pages and social channels for menu, location and opening updates.
For Lafayette diners, the new restaurant is less a brand-new arrival than a homecoming with a refreshed building, a drive-thru and a more convenient location. |
