The University of Louisiana at Lafayette is gaining national attention after being ranked among the top 200 public universities in the United States.

This recognition not only elevates the university’s reputation but also fuels local pride and economic growth in Lafayette.

Inclusion in the prominent U.S. News Best Colleges rankings has inspired increased interest from high school students across Acadiana and led to greater demand for off-campus housing and new student-focused businesses near campus.

UL Lafayette’s rise is supported by its commitment to research, social mobility, and standout programs in engineering and nursing.

Community leaders believe this achievement boosts confidence in the region and attracts new investments, while ongoing campus expansions and enhanced academic offerings are set to further strengthen the university’s local and national standing.

Lafayette's dining scene has a new all-hours destination, and it's already turning heads on Kaliste Saloom Road.

All Day opened in June 2026 at 1905 Kaliste Saloom Road in Parc Lafayette, taking over the former SoLou space.

The concept is refreshingly flexible, flowing from breakfast and coffee into lunch, dinner, cocktails, and dessert all under one roof.

Rather than fitting neatly into one category, All Day is built for every kind of visit, whether that's a laid-back morning, a midday meeting, or a night out.

Its arrival adds another compelling option to Parc Lafayette, an area that continues growing as a go-to hub for dining and socializing.

For locals craving a spot that simply moves with the day, All Day delivers exactly what the name promises.

“been to that spot when it was SoLou, curious to see what they did with it”

Quote Of The Day

"Lafayette is not a city you visit. It's a city that gets into you, through the food, the music, the people, until you can't quite imagine being anywhere else."

Festival season in Acadiana is a beloved tradition — but Louisiana's lingering heat can take a toll if you're not prepared.

Start the day with a real meal before you go. Boudin balls are delicious, but they're not a foundation.

Bring a refillable water bottle and drink before you feel thirsty.

If you're enjoying a cold daiquiri or beer, alternate with water and arrange a safe ride home.

Sun protection matters too — apply sunscreen before leaving, wear breathable clothing, and grab a hat sturdy enough to survive a zydeco set.

Take shade breaks, especially with kids or older relatives in tow.

Choose supportive shoes over stylish sandals, and consider earplugs near the stage — your ears will appreciate it later.

The goal is simple: enjoy everything that makes Lafayette special and still feel human the next morning. Plan ahead, cher.

“hope they kept some of the blu basil staff, those folks were great”

Meet Tillie!

Meet Tillie, a five-month-old Labrador Retriever who is ready to trade shelter life for a home of her own.

At just over 11 pounds, Tillie is still growing and has plenty of time to learn, bond, and become part of a family’s everyday routine. As a young pup, she is at a great age for someone ready to invest time in training, play, and plenty of affection.

Tillie is currently staying at the shelter in Kennel #1 and is listed under Pet ID 120849.

Adopting a puppy means getting the chance to help shape her future while gaining a loyal companion in return. With the right family, Tillie could grow into the kind of dog who becomes part of every walk, weekend, and quiet night at home.

Tillie is waiting for someone to choose her. If you have room in your home and heart for a sweet young pup, stop by the shelter, ask for Pet ID 120849, and come meet her. She just might be the little friend your family has been missing.

Fall in Louisiana doesn't always announce itself with bold colors and crisp winds.

Here, the season arrives more quietly — in a slightly cooler morning, a porch that finally feels welcoming again, or that first evening when the humidity loosens its grip.

In a state where summer seems to stretch endlessly, fall is a gentle invitation to slow down and pay attention.

Step outside with your coffee. Take a slow walk after dinner. Sit on the porch and actually listen to the evening around you.

For just one minute, resist the urge to check your phone or mentally race through what comes next.

Ask yourself what you want to carry into the rest of the year — and what you might finally be ready to leave behind.

Louisiana's fall may be subtle, but that's exactly its charm. Sometimes, a gentle shift is all we need.

Fall Arrives, but Lafayette Still Feels Like Summer

The calendar may say fall, but Lafayette apparently didn’t get the memo. Hot, mostly sunny weather will stick around this week, with afternoon highs remaining in the 90s.

Tuesday looks especially hot, with temperatures around 96–97°F and heat index values potentially reaching 107°F. A stray afternoon thunderstorm is possible, but most of the day should remain dry. Wednesday stays hot and sunny before temperatures begin to ease later in the week.

Thursday through Saturday should bring some of the week's nicest weather for outdoor plans. Expect plenty of sunshine, highs around 90–95°F, and nighttime temperatures dipping into the low 70s—with Thursday night potentially reaching around 69–71°F.

Sunday looks warm and mostly sunny, with highs in the low-to-mid 90s. Overall, rain chances remain fairly limited after the early-week storms.

So while we may officially be entering fall, summer isn't finished with Acadiana just yet. The good news? Those slightly cooler mornings and evenings are finally beginning to hint at what's ahead.
